One Piece Odyssey is off to a promising start for anime fans

One Piece Odyssey is quite a promising start for fans of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga and the anime that spawned from it as a result. It can be very difficult to be an anime fan who loves video games because so many anime projects turned into games have foundered in one way or another. There will occasionally be a hidden gem released here or there, however piece In particular he has had a bumpy road so far. While there were a few notable sites like Pirate Warriors series, the single-player adventures actually had trouble blending the fun of the series with the gameplay itself.

But that already seems to be changing with One Piece Odyssey. The team at Bandai Namco and developer ILCA approached this new title with the idea of offering an entirely different kind of experience than the experience fans of the franchise got from their games. Not only does it offer the full role-playing experience with a turn-based combat system, but it features an original story that takes the opportunity of the series’ 25th anniversary to explore some intriguing new aspects of the franchise.

What do you expect from one piece odyssey

Get the chance to play nearly three hours of One Piece Odyssey At a private preview event, there’s a lot that immediately jumps out for someone like me who might have experience playing through all of the other games in the franchise thus far. While it doesn’t appear to be part of the official canon of the series, the game is set somewhere in the timeline before Wano and possibly the whole Cake Island as well as the Straw Hats crashing into a mysterious new island called Warford.

After encountering a mysterious young girl, Luffy and the others lose memories of how each of their abilities work and need to venture around the island and through their memories in order to build up their strength back up and discover the true mystery of the island. It’s necessary to reset every hero to square one given how much Luffy and the others are at this point, but also provide a semblance of growth for the game itself.

the team behind One Piece Odyssey Make sure to stress how much they work towards making the gaming experience as fast and productive as possible for players, and you can get the idea right from the jump. Within just the first hour of the game alone (which is the first Waford game, before I play a bit of the Alabasta level that happens a few hours later), the Straw Hat party is stacked with each of the available members, Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, and Frankie. Brook was unfortunately unavailable at first, and unfortunately I couldn’t say whether or not it would be playable at all. Same goes for the newest straw hat, Jimbei.

You are instantly granted access to both the Straw Hats in map exploration (in which each of the Straw Hats has their own way of interacting with POIs around the world) and the battles themselves. Battles are spread across a ‘Scramble Battle Zone’ which takes your four selected Straw Hats (which you can swap at any time mid-battle) and divides them into different areas in which they can take on specific enemies in those areas.

There is also a system of weaknesses and strengths inherent in the bottom. There are three different types of attacks that can directly hit key weaknesses to other types of attacks, skill points to track that fuel for special attacks and much more. It may seem like a complicated system at first, but once the battles start, it’s a lot of fun to swap out each of the Straw Hats to form not only the best team to counter certain weaknesses, but also the one that can finish battles faster.

There is a lot of interest in everything One Piece Odyssey. It’s described as a game that can take up to 60 hours to fully complete, and honestly that mileage can vary. The battle system itself looks interesting, but it will be the most interesting for fans of the franchise. This may be a draw for role-playing fans of the game in its battle system, but the real appeal will come from the presentation.

A lot of care has been put into making this scene as accessible as possible piece’Twenty-fifth anniversary. The character models look great, the level-up screen (which you see a few times when characters luckily level up quickly) is fun and colorful, and the story elements everywhere are very engaging. There’s a girl who seems to have a disturbing ability to come from something other than Devil Fruit, fan-favorite characters coming back from the dead, and hilarious character moments that made me smile somewhat as a fan.

It remains to be seen whether One Piece OdysseyThe full experience will deliver on that early promise when it launches January 13th on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. but now? The hook is definitely there. But what do you hope to see from it One Piece Odyssey? Let us know all your thoughts on this topic in the comments!
